The Walton Youth Track Club (WYTC) started in the mid-1990s as a track and field and cross country running club for girls and boys in elementary, middle, and high school that participates in Northwest Georgia Youth Track League and USATF sanctioned meets. WYTC athletes have competed in and won select championships at the Area, State, Region and National levels. Our club has two seasons: Track & Field in the spring and Cross Country in the fall, and is designed to introduce kids of all abilities to sprint and distance running and field events by providing an experience that is fun, competitive, social, and educational. The WYTC is supported by Walton High School, yet participation in the club is not just limited to future Walton High School students. The success of our program is due to the dedication of our athletes, the commitment of our volunteer coaches and the strong participation of our helpful parent volunteers.
All WYTC athletes have the ability to achieve their individual athletic potential during their performance on the track or the trail. They will progress over the season by developing an understanding of the concept of “pace” and the mental side of running, which in turn will greatly improve their individual times and increase the distances which they can run. It is exciting to watch young athletes increase their endurance, develop confidence in their abilities, surpass their own expectations, and enjoy the spirit of competition.
